Then and Now in DeRuyter

This photo of New York & Oswego Midland locomotive "Madison"  on Utica Street in DeRuyter on the Auburn branch was taken in the early 1870s. The engine is facing east with South Hill in the background. It would be June or July when the sun is highest to the northwest. This railroad was in operation between DeRuyter and Norwich 1872-1878.

This is approximately the same location  today.
