Ontario Central Locomotive No. 708 at Cayuga

 


Ontario Central #708 EMD  #16951 SW-9 EMD 12-1952. Originally built for Apalachicola Northern  in Florida, (#708). Sold to the Canton Railroad in Baltimore, Md., in 1971 and later to Consol Coal, also in Baltimore. It was donated to the B&O Museum and was acquired in a railroad equipment trade by Golden Spike Railroad Services in 1994. For a short time it was used at a flour mill in Buffalo, then came to Ontario Central in 1996.  It is shown with a ballast train near Cayuga at bridge over Seneca River with ballast cars, October 21, 2009. Painted and re-lettered by Don Brown of Rochester. Sold to Horizon Leasing Co., Euclid, Ohio.
