This engine was built for the Potsdam & Watertown Railroad in June, 1855 by the Taunton Locomotive Works (Construction No. 192) and is shown shortly after its arrival. It became Rome, Watertown & Ogdensburg No. 16 in 1861. Cylinders 14" x 22" drivers 66". It was retired by 1887. It was named for Silas Wright (1795-1847) of Canton, a prominent politician in his day, 14th Governor of New York State, St. Lawrence County Surrogate Judge, and brigadier general in the New York State Militia.
