This snowplow engine is all decked out for some occasion. There is a star and an eagle on the headlight and smokestack The number plate is obscured but the bunting may be wrapping the number 8. The second dome may show it as being Locomotive No. 42. There appears to be a letter "F" on the side of the cab. The engine has 3 domes much like Midland engines in the 40-50 number range. The engine is also equipped with a big "gong" style whistle in addition to the standard whistle. Two-note "gong" whistles have a pair of opposed bells that are fed from the center. The star usually meant this was a special engine or engineer with an exceptional record
